07:15 06:00
10:30 09:00
14:00 12:00
17:20 16:00

    Hi,

I am accommodated at the hotel in Koh Chang near Koh Chang Pier. I would like to catch the boat from Laem Ngop Pier to Ko Mak at 11:30 or at 14:00. I am travelling on the 9th of July. When should I be at the Koh Chang Pier to have enough time to move from Aow Thammachat to Laem Ngop Pier? Or what route would you recommend me to Koh Mak?

    Thank you,

    Karel

If you plan to be at Ao Thammachat an hour before the speedboat to Laem Ngop departs from Krom Luang pier then that will be OK. It is about 15 minutes drive from Ao Thammachat to Krom Luang pier.

Ferries don’t usually run to the advertised timetable. So plan to be at Ao Sapporot pier maybe 2 or 2 and a half hours before the speedboat you want t catch will depart.

The last ferry is at 18:30 from Ao Thammachat pier (Centrepoint isn’t operating at the moment) So I don’t think you’ll be able to get to Koh Chang the same evening.

The last ferry from the other pier, Ao Thammachat, is at 18:30. Although if it is busy it might depart a bit later. There’s no way to know in advance.

Boat timetables are shown on this site.

Tickets can’t be bought in advance. Buy them when you get to the pier. Foot passengers will always get on the next boat. If you are driving you might have to wait for a boat, if it’s busy.

If you are travelling at a busy time eg New Year or Songkran then you’ll have to wait in line at both piers. The main difference is that Ferry Koh Chang will run boats continuously, they fill up and leave, during very busy periods. Whereas Centerpoint tends not to. They stick to their limited timetable. So although there might be a much shorter queue at Centerpoint, that doesn’t mean you’d get to Koh Chang any quicker.

The ferries run virtually the same schedule, occasionally one of the sailings at lunchtime 12 – 14:00 might not run, so if you are arriving then you might have a longer than usual wait for a boat. And the weather sometimes affects crossing times at this time of year.

A question about the vehicles categories allowed to cross on the ferries: is it possible to embark with a camper van, 3.5 tons, 7m long, 3m high?
If so how much does it cost?

Although it is better to use the main ferry – Ferry Koh Chang – rather than Centrepoint as it’s much easier to get on the boat in a large vehicle.

18 wheel trucks can go on the ferries, so no problem to take a camper van. It will probably be charged the same price as a 6 wheel truck (450 Baht) or you will pay around 100 Baht more than a normal car as it is longer.

. The easy thing to do is book a ticket for the shared minibus that Bangkok Airways runs for their passengers. Then you don’t have to worry about missing the flight.

You can do this online at https://tratairportguide.com .

The ticket price is 400 or 470 Baht including ferry ticket. Pick up time will be around 06:00 – 07:00 (Depending on where you are staying.)

PG307 lands at 18:00. Take the minibus from Trat Airport then you’ll get to Koh Chang the same evening. The minibus will drop you off at your hotel.

If the flight is delayed, the ferry will wait for passengers on the minibus.

You can buy minibus tickets when you land in Trat. Or I can book tickets in advance for you. That Eil will be cheaper.

When you get off the ferry, take the free pick up truck shuttle to the bus office near the main road.

    Hello,
We arrive at Trat airport the 16 January 18 PM with Bangkok Airways. Is it possible to catch the ferry to Koh Chang at 19:30 PM? Can we expect the ferry to wait in case of af flight delay?
    Have a nice day!

There isn’t any public transport at Trat Airport. So take the Bangkok Airways minibus to your hotel on Koh Chang. Buy tickets when you land in Trat. Ticket price is 500 Baht / person including ferry ticket. The ferry will wait for passengers on the minibus if the flight is delayed. The minibus uses the other ferry pier

If you’re landing at 15:00 then you won’t get to Koh Chang the same day. The last ferry is at 19:30. Have a night in Bangkok & come to Koh Chang the next day.

            Good evening,

We would like to arrive at Trat Airport next Friday 5 May either around 11:45 or 16:15 P.M. – in order to catch the 13:15 or 17:45 flight to Bangkok, respectively.

What times does the ferry run from Ko Chang pier and which time is more traffic-sensitive?

If you’re a foot passenger you will always get on the next boat that leaves. The timetables are shown on this site.

Next weekend is a long holiday, so a lot of people will be arriving on the island. Ferry Koh Chang won’t be running to a timetable. Boats will just fill up and leave. Just plan on being at the pier around 2 and a half hours before your flight.

Or buy tickets for the shared minibus that will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the airport.

Hi – I am arriving in Bangkok Airport in the afternoon on Friday January the 27.th 2017
I would like to know, if there is extended schedule this Friday evening (because of the Chinese new year), or I’ll have to stop over for one night in Bangkok before going to Koh Chang?
    Kind regards

I don’t think so. It isn’t a public holiday in Thailand.

19:30 I guess. As that’s the usual time unless it’s a public holiday.

Try Lomtalay Resort or Ban Sulada in Laem Ngop. Both not far from the ferry piers.

The last boat is at 19:30 from Centrepoint pier. So if you arrive at the pier before then, you’ll catch the boat.

You cant pre-book tickets. They can only be bought at the ferry pier. So you just arrive and wait for the ferry. It shouldn’t be busy in late April. But if it is, and you cant get on the first ferry that arrives, then you wait for the next.

Not at 21:00 as it says some other places

◾At busy periods, such as holiday weekends there is often a ferry to and from the island at 21:00. But this isn’t on the official schedule.

Take the airport minibus. You will get to Koh Chang the same day without any problem. Even if your flight is delayed, the ferry will wait for passengers coming from PG307.

Just ask at the ticket office at Centrepoint pier, Koh Chang. You just have to show that you live on koh Chang and can become a member. You’ll need a passport photo. Memembership is for a year then you just get a new card.

Hi, I will be coming to Koh Chang on August. Could you please advise me how to get back to Bangkok? I assume I need to find a bus from Centrepoint to Trat, and then another one from Trat to Bangkok. Any suggestions that might be useful?

You can buy minibus tickets when on Koh Chang. There are various services, the most convenient are from your hotel on Koh Chang to a hotel in Bangkok. Or there’s a public bus at 14:00 daily from the mainland piers to Ekkamai Bus Station. Or there are also public minibuses from Ao Thammachat pier every hour or so. Ticket price is 300 Baht.

      Hi

It isn’t possible to book tickets for the ferry in advance. If you are a foot passenger then you’ll always get on the next boat. If you are driving then you might have to wait one or two departures before you can get on if it’s a busy time of year.

At busy periods, such as New Year, ferries from both mainland piers will be running more frequently than normal in order to reduce waiting times for visitors to the island.

Take the minibus service run by Bangkok Airways and you;re guaranteed to get to Koh Chang the same evening. The ferry will even wait if the flight is delayed. You can buy tickets when you land in Trat – 500 Baht per person. Or book tickets in advance online and save some money.
