The Centrepoint pier on Koh Chang is located a couple of kilometres south of the busier Ao Sapporot pier. As you can see from the video, it’s a bit more run down. There are refreshments available and a couple of small restaurants at the pier which serve basic Thai food. Plus a few shops selling t-shirts, mainly to Thai visitors. On the plus side, there are also a couple of scooter rental shops.
The white pick up truck taxis wait adjacent to where the ferry moors. Just hop on the one which is going to your beach and tell the driver which hotel you want dropping off at. Taxi fares are from 50 – 150 Baht per person depending on how far down the west coast you are staying. The taxis don’t drop off at East coast hotels. You’ll need to arrange for someone from your hotel to come and pick you up if you are staying on this side of the island.
Also, don’t consider walking onto the road and trying to hitch-hike or walk to the west coast beaches. Some people do, but drivers won’t stop to pick them up, as this will upset the taxi drivers.
